A skilfully executed mid century abstract painted in oil onto canvas. It features a combination of broad brushwork and fluid paint applied both thinly and thickly, creating differing textures and overlays. A soft palette of yellows, greys, blues and whites have been used, creating a calming composition of colours to rest our eyes on.

This mid century oil is reminiscent of the abstract expressionist works by the artist William de Kooning, whose painting style came to be known as ‘action panting’.

It is housed in its original mid century distressed gilt frame, which complements it perfectly. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some minor scuffs, and a small loss to the the upper right corner (as shown), but this is not obvious when looking at the painting front on.
