A restrained palette of mellow tones have been used, capturing the solitude and cold of the season.

Although the snow-filled pathway forms a large proportion of this picture, our eyes are drawn to the top right corner of the painting upon first glance. These darker shades of the trees first capture our attention, as our eyes then shift focus downwards of the painting as the colours transition to lighter shades.

The artist has worked with the paint dynamically, as the textured painterly brushstrokes add a wonderful raw and textual quality to the overall composition.

The painting is housed in a simple wood frame, which suits it very well.
