A small but impactful modernist style winter landscape, executed in oil on board.

Painted in a semi-abstract manner, the artwork depicts a panoramic snow-covered landscape street scene featuring a row of houses and barren trees.

The artist has used the expressive qualities of colour and brushstroke to convey visual calm as well as the coldness of winter.

A restrained palette of blue, white and black have been used, and this limitation of colours enables us to strengthen our focus on the various subject matter in the painting as our eyes progress through.

Furthermore, the long and painterly sweeping brushstrokes add a wonderful textural feel, as well as create a sense of depth in the painting.

This oil on board is in excellent vintage condition. It is housed in its original mid century hessian frame with an inner gilt window, and it complements the painting very well. There are some very minor marks on the frame as shown in the images.
