A very well executed mid century townscape painted in oil onto board.
The artist has eliminated all details and has reduced the forms of the buildings down into simple yet very effective planes of colour. Although the application of colour appears to be casual and loose at first glance, further observation reveals that this composition has indeed been very carefully and thoughtfully structured and put together. Loose strokes of vertical and horizontal planes of colour come together seamlessly to create this town view.
The painting is housed in its gorgeous mid century frame, which has a really lovely woven border. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
