A striking mid-century figurative painting, executed in oil onto canvas.

The composition presents 2 figures standing beside one another, against a dark brown backdrop. Painted in a semi-abstract manner, the artist has skilfully reduced and simplified their forms down to geometric shapes.

The composition draws the viewer in with its bold angles and restrained rich colour palette of contrasting shades that create a sense of depth. The artist has intentionally chosen to omit the facial features of the figures, and the picture carries a palpable sense of mystery, which makes it very intriguing.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary white painted frame with an inner gilt window. The is craquelure present to the left figure on the painting, and there are also some areas of paint loss on the painting, although this is in keeping with the overall vintage look of the piece. The frame is in excellent vintage condition.
