A wonderful mid century expressionist landscape in oil, painted on to canvas.

This piece depicts an old stone bridge painted in a gestural, expressionist manner. Broad and distinct brushstrokes sweep over the canvas, creating an almost semi abstract composition. There is a wonderful painterly effect to this picture, and we can imagine the artist’s hand and brush moving rhythmically over the canvas.

The painting is housed in a gilt frame which complements it very well. The painting is in good vintage condition. The frame has minor scuffs. There is a an area of white paint transfer to the lower left edge of the frame (as shown).
