Reminiscent of works by cubist artists such as Pablo Picasso, this painting has broken the figure and her instrument down into distinct planes, aiming to show different viewpoints at the same time and within the same space and so suggest their three dimensional form. In doing so, this artist has emphasised the two-dimensional flatness of the canvas instead of creating the illusion of depth.
The painting is housed in a simple gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some scuffs and marks.
