Probably fishermen, the figures look out at the sea, possibly determining its conditions. With areas of thick impasto creating texture and three dimensionality, we get a real sense of the movement of the choppy waters.
The painting is housed in a very well suited silver frame with an inner white window. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
