A large and expressive mid century landscape composition, executed in oil in a semi-abstract manner.

Upon first glance, our eye our drawn to the left corner of the painting depicting houses on the edge of a cliff. These darker shades first capture our attention, as our eyes then shift focus, making a glance towards the right side of the work, as the colours transition to lighter shades.

Expressive and painterly brushstrokes fill the canvas; and the artist has chosen a restrained palette comprising varying shades of brown, yellow and blue. These mixtures of dark and light tones not only make the work well-balanced, but imbue the painting with both a moody and uplifting feel.

This oil on canvas is in excellent vintage condition. It is housed in its original mid century wood frame with visible grains, and with an inner silver and linen lining. There are some minor marks and scuffs on the frame, commensurate for its age.
