A large and striking oil painting of boats docked at a quiet harbour, painted in 1958. There is a palpable serenity to this painting without it being too still – dockside buildings sit quietly in the background while a group of ducks glide serenely in the water and seagulls hover above. Nature continues to do its thing, at its own pace.
The artist has used an array of contrasting colours and multidirectional brushstrokes to create depth in the painting. This painting is full of details for us to pick out and notice – a picture that opens up to us slowly and steadily and continues to offer something new each time we decide to look.
The oil painting is housed in a large rustic wood frame. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
