A beautiful study of a white rose stem with a bud painted in watercolour in 1940. This artist has executed this work so delicately with such fine and detailed brushstrokes, capturing the veins in the leaves and folds in the petals so exquisitely.
The work comes with a unique elongated hexagonal gilt edged mount, and is housed in a gilt frame with beaded moulding.
This watercolour on wove is in good vintage condition, suitable for its age. There is some minor trapped debris behind the glazing, and slight scruffs to the frame.
Size: 20.7 x 14.6 cm (excluding frame)

Miniature paintings are often overlooked treasures. Their small size means they can fit into an array of small spaces, adding interest to nooks and crannies. They can be displayed on a bookshelf or kitchen shelf, either standing on a mini easel or leant against other objects/books. If added to a group display, these small pieces act as a wonderful contrast to bigger pieces, and can add ‘punctuation’ to the group hang.
