A charming modernist street scene composition, painted in oil onto board and dated 1943.

The painting depicts a street scene of a road lined by a row of buildings in different shapes and sizes.

Upon first glance, our eyes are drawn to the 2 houses punctuating the middle of the painting, as their bold red and black colours stand out strongly against the rest of the shades. The artist has used expressive and distinct multi-directional brushstrokes, giving the painting its depth and interest.

This artwork is housed in its original mid century frame. There is a surface mark to the right side of the painting (as shown in close ups), but the painting is in good vintage condition overall.
