A brilliantly executed mid century still life composition in oil, painted in 1962.

This still life features a beautifully textured surface, with the artist using very thickly applied layers of paint to create areas of impasto where the paint stands proud from the surface. In this composition, we are able to discern a group of lemons and limes in a white bowl, but the artist has left out realistic detailing, focusing instead on the texture and colour of the objects and background. There is a deliciousness and tactility to the creaminess of the thick paint, almost as if the artist is using the medium of paint itself to capture taste and texture of the pictured fruit.

This painting is housed in its original mid century wood frame which suits it very well. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
