Still Life with Jugs

A small yet very striking mid century modernist still life composition, painted in oil onto board.

In this well-executed and detailed work of art, there is a strong focus on colours, shapes and form.

Using a muted earthy colour palette, the artist has thoughtfully used contrasting blocks of colours to illustrate two jugs set against a similarly-coloured background. The differing shades help to create a sense of space as well as make the three-dimensionality of the objects more pronounced.

Fine and smooth brushstrokes have been used, and in addition to the stunning colours, there is a sense of warmth and gentleness instilled in the painting.

This oil on board is housed in a  mid century wood frame with an inner linen lining. There are some marks and minor paint loss at the top of the painting (as it might have been reframed), however the work is in very good vintage condition overall. There are some very minor age spots to the frame.
