The artist has captured the free and wild nature of the stems, carefully including the fallen stems to achieve a sense of balance and naturalism within the picture. The colours of the background and vase mimic the leaves, allowing the contrasting pink of the flowers to stand out.
This fine painting is housed in a robust and ornately detailed moulded gilt frame.
The painting is in excellent vintage condition. There are some minor losses to the frame moulding but this has been restored and painted over in gold (refer to photos).
