A fun and exceptional mid century modernist composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1955.

Incorporating elements of geometric abstraction and cubism, this interesting composition depicts what appears to be a bridge across a sea, surrounded by water, sand and rocks.

Using a restrained colour palette comprising shades of blue, grey and orange, the artist has fragmented the objects down to geometric angular shapes in contrasting colours to highlight their three-dimensional form, whilst simultaneously emphasising the two-dimensional flatness of the canvas.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has wear to its left corner but this is only visible from the side view (as shown in photos).
