A winding river leads our eye deep into the picture, transporting us into this rural wintery landscape surrounded by nature, where pockets of snow rest quietly on the ground. In the distance we see a wooded landscape lining the horizon, with just the tops of the mountains peaking out from behind. The rising sun casts its pinkish – purple hue over the landscape, giving this picture its warm glow. The artist has skilfully captured the peaceful and tranquil feel of this rural landscape through the use of expressive brushwork and colour.

The painting is housed in  a very complementary gilt frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
