A restful and well-balanced mid-century nature landscape composition of a river bank, executed in oil onto board.

The artist has used a range of pastel colours – lighter shades filling the top half depicting the leaves and the sky, and slightly darker tones filling the bottom half depicting the river bank and surrounding pasture. There is a wonderful harmony in the colours and it imbues the overall work with a soothing effect.

Broad and expressive brushstrokes have been applied in a quick and confident manner, and the artist has wonderfully captured the reflections of the trees on the water surface.

This oil on board is housed in its original mid century wood frame that has a wide profile. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
