A small but very impactful and emotive river bridge composition in oil, painted on board.

This moody painting depicts a lone figure walking along the river, with a large bridge in front of him. The composition features small and delicately painted details that are wonderful to explore. At first glance the picture looks like a dark image of a bridge, but as we take the time to look closely, several details begin to make themselves apparent. – we see the brown stairway to the right, we see little figures and even what looks like a truck going across the bridge, as well as the bridge crossing. The way the artist has used expressive brushstrokes and colour blending to paint in the stairway as well as the reflection of the water and the night sky  shows off his mastery of the medium.

The painting is housed in a beautiful wide profile gilt frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
