A brilliant mid-century figurative composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The painting centres around a portrait of a female figure standing by a patterned translucent curtain, and with a view of a landscape setting and the moon shining behind her.

With only the upper half of her showing, the figure is stylishly dressed in patterned clothing with intricate detailing, as well as a matching headpiece.

The artist’s brushstrokes are gentle, soft, and precise, reflecting a careful attention to detail. The overall muted and earthy colours create a subdued and warmth atmosphere. The lady’s small and striking red lips as well as the play of flat geometric shapes in the composition are typical of the artist Lundqvist’s style.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary deep profile champagne frame with and inner linen lined border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has very light scuffing.
