A striking and well executed still life in oil, painted in 1969. The artist has used an intense palette of dark colours as well as bold, expressionist brushstrokes to create this striking still life composition. The darker palette imbues the painting with an almost melancholic vibe, in many way reminiscent of the sombre colours, flattened spaces and overall mood of the paintings of French expressionist artist Bernard Buffet, who was also painting around this time.

This oil on board is housed in its original mid century frame , with a gilt outer birder and an inner linen lined window. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
