A large and brilliantly executed modernist figurative composition dated 1981, and executed in oil by the established Swedish artist Ture Fabiansson (1910-1994), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, The Museum of Art in Gothenburg, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and many others.

The composition presents a group of 5 figures seated and standing around a table, and dining together in the sunny outdoors.

Executed in a modernist style and using a limited colour palette comprising shades of yellow, green, purple, and white, the artist has skilfully simplified the composition down to blocks of contrasting colours, and has intentionally left out realisitc detailing.

The colour palette employed by the artist is characterised by rich and muted colours and together with the use of short expressive brushstrokes, the painting overflows with a soothing yet uplifting quality.

The painting’s large size is impactful, and it would be a perfect fit for a dining setting.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim gilt frame. There is some scuffing to the frame, but the painting is in excellent vintage condition.
