A large and very textured mid century modernist landscape oil, painted onto board.
The artist has used a range of tools that have created different types of marks on the surface. The artist has built up the layers of paint skilfully, creating a composition full of texture and impasto. Rich and saturated colours in orange, blue, yellow, green and black have been applied to the board in an expressive manner, incorporating the artist’s subjective response to the landscape before him. An umbrella like tree punctuates the left side of the picture creating a focus for our eyes. Rich blues span the sky above. and a long path leads our view further into the picture.
This expressive painting is housed in a very complementary light wood frame with a linen lined border. The painting is in very good vintage condition. There are some very minor scuffs to the lower edge of the frame but it is in very good condition overall.
