Mother & Baby Boy

SOLD.

Part of our ‘family series’ collection, this mid century oil has been painted onto board and depicts a mother with a bowl, feeding a baby boy.

A depiction of the wonderful (albeit sometimes frustrating) everyday scene of feeding a young child, which is familiar to anyone who has had a young baby. A mother sits close to her child, with the bowl of food set out and her baby in front of her.

The artist has captured this everyday scene beautifully, using a vivid and bold colour palette, and incorporating areas of thick impasto for added effect and three dimensionality. The features of the figures have been left out, focusing instead on the shape and form of the figures and the bowl, giving this painting a timelessness, which coincides beautifully with the ‘timelessness’ of raising children and all that comes with it.

This oil painting is in very good vintage condition. It is housed in its original mid century frame that has some scuff and general wear, commensurate with age. However, this does not detract from its overall appeal.
