It is quite likely that this artwork has been painted en plein air (where the artist works outdoors and has to therefore capture the landscape quickly). Areas of the canvas surface can be seen, and it is precisely this roughness and rawness that gives this painting its character.

The painting is housed in a gilt frame which complements it very well. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some minor scuffs but this certainly does not detract from the overall attractiveness of the painting.
