An uplifting and richly textured mid-century abstract oil composition that explores the wonderful elements of colour and brushstrokes.

What’s most striking is the use of the impasto technique, as thick layers of paint have been applied using broad gestural brushstrokes onto the painting surface. With each pass of the brush adds a little more texture onto the dried paint beneath it, leaving to form an imprint of the artist’s brush as well as a raw textural and three-dimensional quality.

What is clearly evident is the artist’s deep understanding of colour. Featuring a dance of elegant and lively shades of blue, green and yellow, the colours have been skilfully layered on top and beside one another, enriching the painting with a harmonious feel.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary grey wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. There are some very minor scuffs and areas of paint residue on the frame.
