A fantastic and very confidently executed modernist landscape, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 1954.

This landscape scene depicts an open valley filled with lush greenery, and the artist has thoughtfully chosen to highlight the beauty of the colour green through using an array of shades.

Painted in a semi-abstract manner, this scene has been reconstructed down to planes of rich contrasting colours to demonstrate depth in the painting. Swift and powerful expressive brushstrokes dominate the canvas, imbuing the painting with energy and forming this very striking and lightly textured composition.

This oil on canvas is housed in a stunning cream ridged frame that pairs wonderfully with the painting.  The painting is in very good vintage condition, although there is a tiny pinhole to left corner of canvas, as shown, from a previous frame. However, this does not detract from its overall attractiveness.
