A beautifully executed and distinctly modernist mid century oil portrait painted in 1951 and housed in a gilt frame.

Here we see a painting of a figure, whose details have been paired right down to distinct brushstrokes in non realistic colours. This particularly modernist ethos of focusing on  colour and form imbues the painting with a timelessness that makes it very appealing. There is a rawness to the the work that gives this painting a very striking quality.

This oil on canvas is in very good vintage condition. It is housed in a complementary gilt frame with red undertones. There are some minor scuff marks on the frame, and there is a very minor spot of paint loss on the painting.
