A large, bold and striking mid-century landscape view of a French river, executed in oil on board.

It is a fine day in Autumn, and figures can be seen strolling along the promenade by the river.

Executed in a fauvist style, the painting is characterised by energetic and unrestrained brushwork that imbue the work with dynamism. A vivid earthy colour palette with bold outlines around various forms adds to its striking nature.

This oil on board is housed in a robust mid century dark gilt frame with red tints. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition, with some very minor scuffs around the edges of the frame which are commensurate for its age.
