Painted in 1951, this gorgeous oil depicts the landscape of the fishing village of Reine in Lofoten, Norway. Lofoten is known for its breath-taking scenery, which has been captured by the artist in a very personal way. Rather than a realistic depiction of the Arctic ocean and its peaks, the artist has brought into focus the colourful fishing sheds that contrast wonderfully against the snowy landscape.  There is a wonderful playfulness to the palette, composition and brushstrokes, and the way in which the artist has abstracted the scenery.

This large painting is housed in its original mid century distressed light grey frame. The painting is in very good vintage condition. The frame has some paint losses to its edges, as shown in the photos, which are typical for its age.
