A mid century Swedish painting executed in the abstract expressionist style. Abstract expressionism is characterised by gestural brush-strokes, and the impression of spontaneity, and is expressive and emotional in its effect. In this painting, a range of bright and striking colours have been applied in various ways – we se areas of brush work, areas of splatter, scratching, and areas of application with a palette knife. These varying applications combined with several areas of thick impasto (where the paint is applied thickly enough to stand proud from the surface) have created this dynamic and energetic composition.
The painting is housed in a simple wooden frame which suits it well. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
