A large and very striking still life composition that has been painted onto board. The artist has used a variety of media, including oil and gouache, to render this detailed composition. The surface of the board has been painted over with a matte textured white, and on top of that the artist has used oil, gouache and watercolour to paint the objects, resulting in a very striking colour palette that really stands out from the surface, while at the same time achieving an incredible level of detail. The choice of tools and objects have created a very well balanced horizontal composition, while at the time drawing the viewer in and encouraging us to inspect all the details. The painting is housed in a greenish-blue wood slip that frames it very well, giving it a contemporary feel. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
