A lively and expressive large modernist coastal landscape composition, executed in oil onto board.

This striking composition presents a coastal scape that is lined with houses by the coast. Sail boats are at rest in the blue waters, and in the background, we can spot a mountain landscape.

Painted with expressive and textured brushstrokes, the artist has skilfully used blocks of contrasting colours to reconstruct this scene. A rich and uplifting  colour palette has been used, and the plethora of colours not only imbue the work with liveliness but is also a visual feast for the eyes.

This oil on board is housed in a lovely wood and gilt frame with a linen inner border. There are some age related marks to the top right corner of the painting, but overall it’s in very good vintage condition. The frame has some minor wear and age toning, commensurate with age.
