A charming and picturesque mid-century landscape composition, executed in oil onto board by the established Swedish artist Eric Elfvén (1921–2008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The painting captures the essence of a tranquil town nestled amidst a verdant landscape.  In the distance, faint outlines of mountains rise against the sky, adding depth and perspective to the painting.

Painted with a modernist ethos, the artist has skilfully reduced the composition to blocks of contrasting colours that evoke a sense of simplicity and harmony. Gentle shades of soft orange add warmth to the painting, contrasting beautifully against earthy forest green tones.

Soft and gentle brushstrokes characterise the painting, enhancing the soothing quality of the scene.

This oil on board is housed in a very charming slim gilt frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
