A restful and atmospheric mid-century modernist coastal scape painting, executed in oil onto canvas.

Simple yet effective in its composition, this scenic work of art presents a panoramic view of a coast by the sea. The artist has made a conscious decision not to focus on realistic details and has thoughtfully reduced the forms down to planes of contrasting colours.

The painting is very well balanced with an equal weight distribution of blues to depict the ocean and sky, against the earthy tones of cream and brown used to represent the coast. The combination of the rhythmic diagonal brushstrokes as well as the calm colour palette adds a very soothing effect to the painting.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary silver frame. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition, with only very minor scuffs to the frame.
