A stunning mid century Swedish oil on board, painted in 1964. A group of 3 bedouins sit to the right, with a single standing figure forming the focus of the composition to the right. In a typically modernist style, the artist has abstracted both the figures and the landscapes, using blocks of contrasting colour to create depth and a sense of space. The striking blue of the figures’ headscarves and robes contrast beautifully against the sandy browns and greys of the desert landscape. There is a wonderful stillness to the piece which adds to its striking composition.
The painting is housed in a very complementary gilt frame with an inner fabric lined window. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
