A group of rosy apples sit on a white plat, set against a cerulean blue background to the top half, and darker greenish-blue to the bottom half of the composition. The pink and yellow of the apples stand out beautifully against the blue, and the artist has captured the light on them skilfully. A diluted layer of paint has been applied to the composition, and the artist has let it naturally move down the painting, creating a drip effect that is most visible along the bottom edge of the composition. This intriguing effect is gives the painting an added layer of texture and depth which makes it very satisfying to look at. The artist is intentionally reminding us that this picture in front of us is indeed a painting, and that we are to notice the materiality of the paint itself.

The painting is housed in a silver painted wood frame which suits it well and illuminates the painting. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
