We are able to make out a tree to the left most edge of the composition, as well as a house that sits behind it. Larges swathes of deep and saturated colour line the bottom half of the canvas, making up the foreground of the picture. Beyond that, different shades of blue indicate the sea and then the sky. The artist has used contrasting colours and texture to create a sense of depth and space.

A Swedish mid century riverscape scene, painted in oil on 1947. The painting is compositionally very well balanced and has a lovely depth to it, which the artist has created through capturing several elements of the landscape in layers. Branches and leaves of a tree peek in from the left, directing our eyes towards the river water, with its swirling ripples. Our eyes are then directed upwards by the tall tree that is just off centre, which then leads us to the row of colourful buildings that sit along the river edge. The light blue of the sky is reflected in the windows of the buildings, and again in the ripples of the water, creating a nice flow and harmony within the painting. There are several details that slowly reveal themselves as our eyes rest on the picture, making it a very satisfying picture to look at.
