An excellent mid century oil by Swedish artist Ivar Morsing, painted in 1959. Depicting a woman seated on a chair surrounded by objects including a jug, this painting has been executed in a semi-abstract style with cubist influences.

Thoughtful and elegant brushstrokes with subtle blending, as well as a muted earthy colour palette of blues, browns and beige fill the canvas. The artist has skilfully abstracted down this scene through the use of contrasting blocks of colours that not only harmonise well together to give rise to the various forms, but to also demonstrate a strong sense of depth in this painting.

This oil on board is in very good vintage condition. It is framed in a complementary gilt frame with an inner linen lined border.
