A well executed mid century oil on canvas depicting a standing figure.

A simple yet very effective composition – the artist draws our attention to form, line and texture. We see a rust coloured silhouette of a figure, set against a similarly sanguine background. The surface is very much textured with areas of impasto as a result of the artist’s use of a palette knife. We can discern his technique and the way in which he has chosen to layer the paint, giving this painting quite a raw effect. The scale of the figure is striking, as is the colour in which it has been painted, which has a clay like quality to it.

This oil on canvas is housed in a gilt frame with red undertones which draws out the colours of the painting well. The painting is in good vintage condition, and there are minor scuffs to the frame.
