Depicting a middle aged man dressed in a blue coat seated on a chair, the artist has consciously chosen not to represent his facial features. The power of faceless portraits allows one to shift focus to explore more within the frame such as the brushstrokes, colours and composition. In this case, the light and cool colours used as well as the smooth brushstrokes are reflective and well-aligned to the man’s calm and composed nature.

This oil on board is in excellent vintage condition. It is housed in a complementary gilt frame with red undertones, that is overall in good condition.
